Established in 1962, the International Salt Alliance (ISA) stands as the definitive global authority for the salt industry. For over six decades, we have served as the nexus where industrial leadership, geological science, and international trade policy converge.

Our mandate is to provide a neutral, evidence-based platform that transcends borders, ensuring the global salt value chain remains resilient, scientifically grounded, and transparent. Representing the diverse geography of global production—from high-altitude solar evaporation pans to deep-shaft maritime rock mines—the ISA is the custodian of the industry’s technical history and the architect of its future standards.

As the preeminent institutional voice for the sector, ISA operates at the intersection of industry leadership and international policy. We serve as a neutral convening body where competitors become collaborators to solve complex cross-border challenges.

Mr. Ismail Suttar

Chairperson of the Board

Statesman Statement

"The strength of any essential industry lies not only in the scale of its resources, but in the depth of its responsibility to future generations."

For more than sixty years, the International Salt Alliance has stood as a forum of cooperation, expertise, and shared purpose within the global salt sector. As Chairperson, I am honored to serve a community whose work underpins food security, industrial progress, infrastructure resilience, and public health across continents.

The salt industry today operates within a rapidly evolving global environment—shaped by sustainability imperatives, regulatory transformation, and shifting trade dynamics. In this context, collaboration is no longer optional; it is essential. ISA exists to ensure that stakeholders engage in informed, constructive dialogue grounded in evidence and mutual respect.

Our responsibility extends beyond production. We are stewards of a vital mineral resource. Through structured exchange, scientific engagement, and responsible leadership, ISA works to align industry advancement with environmental stewardship and long-term resilience.
